IF: Germs -- She doesn't feel well

I've been considering this Illustration Friday subject for a couple of days. It appears that most folks are approaching it from a cartooning or abstract point of view. I wanted to take a different tact and went with this illustration of a little girl not feeling well. The germs are attacking her from in the air.

  1. Very sensitive drawing. It is nice to see a response that isn't a cartoon.

  2. Poor little thing. As a school teacher I see this look quite often. Nice take on the theme.

  4. It's really good to see a different approach, there does seem to be a predominance of naive/cartoonish work submitted to IF.

I like your study of a little girl, she certainly looks a little under the weather! ;) At first glance her face seems quite womanish, but then judging by the proportions of her head and shoulders I would say she was a very young girl... every mark you make on a face adds age, so I don't know if it's a little over worked, especially around the mouth and eyes she seems to be wearing her age a little hard? If this was the intention, to make her look old a ragged then maybe if it wasnt such a close crop on her head you could assess her age better from her physique as a child's proportions are significantly different from an adult's. Nice illo though , it's especilly fun to see the big thick smears of charocoal (?) in the top right of the image, I bet that was fun to really lay it on there!

    Nice work mate!

  6. This is a lovely drawing! (I'm not really into doing cartoony things myself). I love her expression--her bleariness, and exhaustion.

  7. Very nicely drawn. I too think too much cartoony and digital cartoon type work is submitted to IF so I love to see real drawings and paintings.
